21

21 means a lot to most people. It's the day all barriers fall and you can legally do anything you want—specifically drink and gamble. Everyone urged me to do so today. You should go buy a drink. You should go to Vegas.

I don't see what's the big deal. I don't know why American youth yearn for everything they can't have. I don't know why American pop culture embraces the risky and reckless lifestyle of booze and gambling.

That's not to say gambling is bad. I respect professional gamblers. I just think it's stupid for most people to gamble, because most people don't play to win.

21 means nothing to me. 21 is not an accomplishment; plenty of people reach 21. 21 is just another day in which I skipped class, visited TVA, played volleyball, and rocked the comps in Age of Mythology. I came out of the womb legally able to do all the things that I care about: create, learn, play games, and listen to music. Why should 21 be a big deal?

If you want something to celebrate, wait until I get a nice job or my first big paycheck. Now that will be a day worth celebrating.
