AMD Day
Yesterday was AMD Day, a day when AMD reps take over the Wozniak Lounge (in Soda Hall) and have presentations, a raffle, and a tournament of some sort. The game of the day was DOOM 3 and the prize, a whopping $1000 for first place, $500 for second, $250 for third. That's good money for a tournament with only 40 people—at least half of whom have never even played the game before (including me! =)).
My utter futility in DOOM 3 was hilarious. After half of the round (15-min rounds), I was so far behind, I figured I might as well just screw around. I began using fists and the flashlight on the other three players in my group (4-player, FFA groups). The highlight of my day was scaring Alan into the pit with the flashlight. I was running behind him on the circular platform surrounding a pit (and the reactor)—I knew it was him because he didn't check behind him. I yelled out, If that's you, Alan, turn around.
He turned around and saw me wielding the flashlight, then turned back around to run away. And ended up running off the platform and into the pit. =)
At the end of the day, they raffled away four slightly-used copies of DOOM 3 and a Creative MP3 player. The 2nd-place finisher won the MP3 player. =(

Three more reasons why declining to interview with Cisco is a good thing: interviews with Lockheed Martin, Silicon Storage Technology, and Raytheon.
